Seungtaik Jang | Layered Painting : Almost Blue
Hakgojae Gallery is pleased to a solo exhibition by Seungtaik Jang(b. 1959, Goyang), titled 《Layered Painting: Almost Blue》 from April 15 to May 17, 2025. The exhibition showcases over 20 paintings, centered on the color blue, highlighting Jang’s signature ‘Layered Painting’ series.
Seungtaik Jang has consistently explored the materiality and depth of color, expanding the boundaries of color field painting. Notably, he experiments with new pictorial possibilities through the layering of color and transparency. His work emphasizes the construction of color within a sensory and spatial context. The ‘Layered Painting’ series builds upon his previous ‘Poly Painting’ series, presenting conceptual color field paintings that transcend the limitations of primary colors to achieve a rich and diverse palette. This exhibition invites viewer not only to appreciate the color blue, but also to experience the depth and stratification inherent in Jang's chromatic explorations.
